I love Easter. I love eating a hot cross bun on Good Friday. I love an extra excuse (like I need one) to eat chocolate. I love helping the kids make rabbits and sheep with cotton wool and pipe cleaners and decorate hats with little chicks and plastic eggs. I love mixing an otherwise healthy cereal with chocolate and topping it with sugar coated chocolate eggs. (The house is a mess but who cares! ) It’s just a really fun and special time for our family.
The truth is though that the best thing about Easter is what it means. It means new birth, it means hope and it gives my whole life a purpose. I can’t even put into words how grateful I am for the atonement of Jesus Christ, which means that I am never alone, even when I am at my loneliest. Then there is the awesomeness of Him overcoming death, so that death wouldn’t be the end for us (yay to being more than just worm food).
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (my religion) have produced a beautiful video that encapsulates the meaning of Easter. I love how simple and yet incredibly profound it is.
